Flag football in Teplice: we fought hard, the win will have to wait
On Saturday 3 October, Nordians Teplice hosted a flag football tournament at Anger field in Teplice. Between 1 pm and 4 pm we played three games and fought to the very last snap, but this time our opponents were a step ahead.
- Nordians vs. Příbram Bobcats 21-41
- Nordians vs. Prague Black Panthers 6-42
- Nordians vs. Přerov Mammoths 26-32
The offence showed what it can do against the Bobcats
We opened the tournament against the Příbram Bobcats. The offence clicked and produced several great plays. The highlight was Alexandr Baláž’s touchdown on the last play of the first half, as he weaved his way past three defenders. The Bobcats were more clinical, though, and took the game 41-21.
One to forget, and one that got away
Nothing went our way against the Prague Black Panthers. Neither the offence nor the defence found their rhythm, and the 6-42 loss is one we would rather forget quickly. The closest game came last, against the Přerov Mammoths. We kept our hopes of a win alive until the very end, but couldn’t level the score late on and lost 26-32.
The tournament mattered most for our rookies. For many of them it was their first ever game experience, including wide receiver Michal Honzík and defensive back Maxmilián Kasal.
Thank you to everyone who came to watch. The crowd was smaller, but all the more welcoming.
Our next tournament is on Saturday 17 October in Příbram, with rematches against the Bobcats and Black Panthers plus a game against the South Bohemia Falcons. This time we want to bring a win home.
